Planning a wedding can be stressful and difficult, but one of the best decisions we made was to sign up for the Thailand Honeymoon Registry in lieu of a traditional gift registry. Instead of receiving things like wine glasses or plates, our guests gave us the ultimate gift that will last a lifetime… an incredible honeymoon in Thailand!
It was so simple and FREE to sign up for the registry. All we had to do was put in our details and then pick all of the activities we wanted to do in Thailand, including things like hotel upgrades, romantic dinners, and tours.
Once all the details were taken care of, we were able to quickly e-mail it to all of our guests, share it on our Facebook pages and even set up our own website for it! After that, all that was left to do was wait and watch the gifts roll in. We figured we would get some takers but to our extremely pleasant surprise, we received gift after gift for our future honeymoon! From what we have heard since then, it took our friends and family a few minutes of looking at the website and gift list ideas to decide this would be without a doubt a much more meaningful gift to us than the usual wedding presents. We received room upgrades at both of our hotels in two different cities, along with activities and tours galore that allowed us to truly experience everything Thailand has to offer, which made this trip not only an incredible honeymoon but a time together that we will surely never forget. The following are just some of our most favorite activities we experienced through participating in this Honeymoon Registry that I now recommend to anyone even considering going to Thailand for a honeymoon of their dreams…
A Cruise Around the Phi Phi Islands: Seeing as Phuket was our first destination on the honeymoon, we decided the trip would not be complete without at least a couple days spent on the famous Phi Phi Islands. While there, we decided to do a whole day island tour that included 7 different islands, each one seeming more beautiful than the last. From making friends with the monkeys on Monkey Island to the snorkel trips, and of course one of our favorite scenes at Maya Bay. We quickly fell in love with everything about this beautiful place.
A Visit to Damnoen Saduak Floating Market: Next stop was Bangkok and we were definitely not leaving until we visited at least one of the many well-known floating markets we had long heard of. Though this meant an early wake up call, once we got there and witnessed first hand the throngs of people bartering down fruit, souvenirs, jewelry and Pad Thai. We knew instantly it was all worth it.
Spending a Day With the Elephants: Spending a day with elephants had always been on both of our bucket lists, so when we decided to include Chiang Mai in our honeymoon plans. It was no question that this would be one of our must-do activities. We learned basic elephant commands, got to walk with them through the jungle, fed them bananas and sugarcane, even bathed them in a small pond!
Thai Cooking Class: Seeing as Thai cuisine is one of our absolute favorites, we decided we needed to learn first hand how to make some of our favorite dishes. The cooking class was amazing and we now have our own cookbook to try at home!
Though we may not have as many home goods as the typical newlyweds, we now have memories that will last for a lifetime and all thanks to the Thailand Honeymoon Registry, which we will forever be grateful for! We hope you can enjoy the same!
Best wishes,
Rachel & Alex
