This has been an incredible month for Thailand as the country has been awarded with Conde Nast Traveller’s 2018 Readers’ Travel Awards. The Tourism Authority of Thailand is thrilled to announce that Thailand was voted Best Country for People by the wonderful globetrotters of Condé Nast Traveller UK in their 2018 Readers’ Travel Awards! Hundreds of thousands of voters submitted ratings and comments, deciding on a curated collection of the worlds’ best in travel.
“This accolade, while awarded by globetrotters from the UK, personifies the sentiment of people the world over. In Thailand it begins with the people – true Thai hospitality permeates at every level of the visitor experience. We choose to refer to is as – Thainess.” states Director of Thailand’s tourism office in NY – Mrs. Charinya Kiatlapnachai
Thailand was also awarded third place in the coveted Best Country category, following winner Italy and runner-up Greece, and the blissful island of Koh Samui was recognized again this year as one of the top ten World’s Best Islands.
Furthermore, the Mandarin Oriental, Bangkok and Six Senses Yao Noi in Phang Nga were both ranked at 4th and 5th respectively in the Best Asia & the Indian Subcontinent Hotel section. The full list of winners is featured in the October 2018 issue of Condé Nast Traveller UK, which is currently available for purchase.
These exciting awards join a wealth of accolades that were presented to Amazing Thailand this month, including Bangkok winning Best Leisure Destination in the Asia Pacific by the Business Traveller Awards 2018 for the third consecutive year, and Villa Mahabhirom Chiang Mai being selected as one of the most romantic resorts by Martha Stewart’s Weddings this year.
The Tourism Authority of Thailand is incredibly happy to have received these honors and is dually grateful for everyone’s support. In addition, TAT would like to extend heartfelt appreciation to all of the Thailand Insiders out there who love Thailand!
