The Tourism Authority of Thailand kicked off #ThaiMillionSmiles, a social media movement and consumer sweepstakes, with an inspirational private launch event at The Highline Hotel in New York City on Thursday, March 15, 2018. The event featured a silent auction of Nigel Barker’s photography, celebrity ambassador for #ThaiMillionSmiles, with proceeds from the auction being contributed to charity beneficiary, Operation Smile.
Best known for the 17 seasons spent as photographer and judge on America’s Next Top Model, Barker, who now stars in Top Photographer, is a loyal supporter of Operation Smile and has previously worked with the children’s medical charity. Also in attendance was Operation Smile celebrity ambassador, actor and star of CW’s The Vampire Diaries Michael Trevino, who has worked with Operation Smile for several years and looks forward to joining a future Operation Smile medical mission in Thailand.
Partners, media and influencers were invited to enjoy the event and experience Thailand firsthand with traditional Thai food and drink, Thai massages, and performances by Thai musicians and dancers.
With the help of Operation Smile and the celebrity ambassadors, #ThaiMillionSmiles includes a sweepstakes component in which consumers are encouraged to share images of what makes them smile about Thailand for their chance to win a free trip to the land of smiles! The sweepstakes officially kicked off on March 20, 2018 – International Day of Happiness – and will run through the end of May 2018.
To further promote the spreading of smiles, TAT will make a contribution directly to Operation Smile to provide surgical care for children born with cleft lip, cleft palate and other facial deformities. This contribution will be made in honor of the winner of the Millions Smiles campaign.
