These spots offer a blend of relaxation and adventure.
Mu Koh Ang Thong National Park
A day trip to Mu Koh Ang Thong National Park is a must-seek for those looking for an adventure. This archipelago of 42 islands offers breathtaking natural beauty, with limestone cliffs, hidden lagoons, and pristine beaches. Kayaking through the emerald waters or hiking up to see the panoramic view of the islands is an experience you must seek out for yourself.
Fisherman’s Village
Located in Bophut, Fisherman’s Village is one of the island’s most charming spots. It features a blend of old wooden Chinese shophouses and modern boutiques. The Friday Walking Street Market is a highlight, where you can enjoy delicious street food, shop for unique souvenirs, and soak in the atmosphere with live music and fireshows.
The fire shows are a spectacle that brings the beach to life with fiery energy and fearless performances. Watching the skilled performers twirl, spin, and toss flaming torches with flawless choreography, we were in awe of the artistry. For a few moments, we found ourselves lost in time, captivated by the rhythmic beat of the music and the hypnotic dance of flames against the night sky. It was an unforgettable experience that fused tradition, skill, and raw passion, leaving us all deeply moved.
Koh Samui Has Several Types of Accommodations
Koh Samui has several properties that can fit any budget, from local boutiques to grand luxury properties. If you’re looking to splurge, the Four Seasons Koh Samui stands as one of the island’s most prestigious luxury resorts, offering a perfect mix of comfort, relaxation, and authentic Thai experiences. Nestled on a picturesque hillside with stunning views of the Gulf of Thailand, the resort is a true sanctuary of tranquility. Its private villas, with infinity pools and lush garden surroundings, provide a serene escape from everyday life. Guests can dive into various must-try activities, whether learning Muay Thai at the resort’s dedicated ring or unwinding with holistic treatments at the award-winning Secret Garden Spa, where traditional Thai healing techniques blend seamlessly with modern wellness practices.
During our visit, we were captivated by the resort’s lush environment, filled with vibrant blooms like Bird of Paradise, Orchids, Hibiscus, and Lotus flowers 😉. It felt like we wandered through our private garden—a truly magical experience.
On every trip, we recommend making time to treat yourself. At Anantara Bophut Koh Samui, it’s easy to do just that. This stunning resort offers a tranquil escape with beautifully designed rooms and a world-class spa that elevates wellness. Indulge in signature therapies, from traditional Thai massages to rejuvenating facials, each crafted to restore balance and serenity.
Choeng Mon Beach
If you’re looking for a quieter beach experience, Choeng Mon Beach is the perfect spot. Its calm, clear waters are ideal for swimming, snorkeling, and kayaking. The laid-back vibe and beautiful scenery make it a great place to unwind and escape the more crowded beaches.
If you need a place to stay close by, we recommend considering Cape Fahn Hotel. Cape Fahn Hotel is a luxurious, private island retreat that offers an unforgettable escape in a serene and secluded setting, where you sneak away for privacy or interact with fellow travelers looking to relax at the beach. We preferred the floating breakfast as this was a fun way to eat and show off on Instagram!
Our visit to Muang Samui Resort was an unforgettable experience, starting with a delicious lunch where we indulged in a variety of Thai favorites. From the rich flavors of the spicy oyster dish to the creamy goodness of Massaman curry, every dish was a true taste of Thailand. After our meal, we were in for a treat as we explored their unique cave-like spa, a serene oasis designed to transport you to a different world.
Dusit Dhewa
A unique attraction in Koh Samui, Dusit Dhewa is a cultural and spiritual garden showcasing a collection of beautiful statues and sculptures inspired by Thai, Khmer, and Burmese architecture. The surroundings and intricate carvings make it an excellent photo and cultural exploration spot.
Koh Phangan: More Than a Full Moon Party!
Just a short boat ride away from Koh Samui, Koh Phangan is renowned for its world-famous Full Moon Party. This legendary beach gathering draws travelers from across the world. Every month, under the glowing light of the full moon, Haad Rin Beach transforms into a vibrant carnival of music, dancing, and fire shows that carry on until the early morning hours. For anyone eager to dive into Thailand’s nightlife, this experience is a must-try.
For most of us, it was our first time at the Full Moon Party, and the night unfolded like a dream of neon and music. Bodies glowed with fluorescent paint, strangers bonded over the beats, and there was a shared sense of wonder at being in such a beautiful, chaotic place. The DJs—plural, as there were many—kept the crowd moving with an endless stream of high-energy tracks while food stalls lined the beach, providing much-needed fuel for the night ahead. Although this scene is tailored more toward younger, adventurous travelers, there is something undeniably magnetic about the Full Moon Party. For those looking to experience the raw, unfiltered spirit of Thailand’s nightlife, Koh Phangan is a destination that demands to be explored.
