This week’s Thai-licious episode visits the Mandarin Oriental, Bangkok’s grande dame hotel, to speak with General Manager, Amanda Hyndman. Ms. Hyndman, originally from the UK, has held posts in hotels around the world. At Mandarin Oriental, Bangkok, she starts her day early to ensure that everything is running smoothly and all guests are enjoying the hotel’s legendary hospitality. Her time living in Thailand and managing Mandarin Oriental has been a dream come true and she has fallen in love with the culture, art, history and people of Bangkok. Established in 1876, Mandarin Oriental is the city’s oldest hotel and boasts one of the city’s most convenient locations along the banks of the Chao Phraya River. The hotel’s rich 140 year history is intricately intertwined with Bangkok’s own history and heritage.
Ms. Hyndman then invited Thailicious to her private residence to show the steps in preparing a delectable meal: Yum Som O. Watch the video here below for the recipe.
