What is Thailand Insider’s Drag Superstar?
Thailand Insider’s Drag Superstar wants to celebrate the art of drag and showcase it to our fans. We won’t let borders limit the creativity of drag culture, and this is the chance to show it off to the world. There will be four categories that the Queens will compete in:
- Entrance Runway Look – This is the category where we want to see each Queen’s best runway look representing their unique style and creativity.
- Talent Show – Thailand Insider’s Drag Superstar has to be more than a face. They must highlight their fierce talent to win the judges over.
- Thailand Inspired Runway Look – Thailand welcomes everyone; therefore, the Queens must create another runway inspired by Thailand. From the wildlife to the crystal clear blue ocean waters, the Queens must show how Thailand inspires their own drag.
- Lip-synch – There can’t be a competition without a lip-synch. All five Queens will lip-synch against each other for the crown!
The first-place Queen will be rewarded with a trip to Thailand to enjoy and bask in their win.
Who Will Determine the Winner?
Suzy Wong, better known as Chef Arnold Myint from Top Chef and Food Network Star, will serve as the main judge in our search for the next up-and-coming drag superstar. Myint is Nashville-born, with a former career in figure skating and is now the chef, owner, and partner of three restaurants.
Suzy Wong, Myint’s alter ego, was crowned Miss Gay America in 2017 and is the ultimate domestic diva, often hosting glamorous social events across the country. Party-goers remember Suzy for her classy demeanor, savvy cocktail and entertainment skills, fashionable style, and brilliant smile! Parties hosted by Suzy include Pride Organizations in Palms Springs, NYC, Nashville, San Francisco, and Chicago, and organizations such as The Trevor Project, Nashville Cares, No Kid Hungry, and The James Beard Foundation.
Suzy will be joined by Steve Johnson-Stevenson, Marketing Manager for the Tourism Authority of Thailand-New York office, and Uwern Jong, Editor of OutThere magazine and representative of Go Thai Be Free, which is the tourism board’s LGBTQ+ digital platform, who will all help determine the winner.
Special Guest Appearance
During the show, there will be a special guest appearance from someone very dear to our hearts: Angele Anang, reigning winner of Ru Paul’s Drag Race Thailand Season 2 and first-time trans winner! During the Q + A, Angele will be answering questions from her fans, so be sure to attend the event and find out all about Angele and her experience on Drag Race Thailand!
