This year has proven to be a trying time with many challenges. No one expected the pandemic of COVID-19 as it swept over the world and came to characterize 2020. These difficulties have highlighted a whole new class of heroes lying under our noses the entire time. Essential workers include teachers, healthcare workers, grocery store clerks, firefighters, and even mail carriers. All of these heroes put their health and wellbeing on the line to keep the world turning, which is why they deserve something incredible.
In May, the Tourism Authority of Thailand and Mandarin Oriental Bangkok honored the valued service of essential workers by awarding Brooke, a nurse, and Dave, a Police Sergeant, by hosting their honeymoon trip in Bangkok as part of the Thailand Gives Back to Heroes project.
As a continuation of the project, the Tourism Authority of Thailand has partnered with the Matador Network to award five essential workers and a guest a once in a lifetime trip to Thailand. The Thailand Gives Back to Heroes project is designed to spread kindness to essential workers for all of their service and dedication to keeping the world turning.
“We forever appreciate the selfless commitment of each of the United States’ frontline heroes. We know that you deserve this time to rejuvenate your mind and body as we continue the fight against these uncertain situations,” said Charinya Kiatlapnachai, Director, Tourism Authority of Thailand.

Nominate Your Favorite Hero
Between October 1st and November 8th, all eligible entrants can nominate a hero or themselves through the online nomination portal. You can nominate an essential worker who you feel deserves a trip to Thailand, including yourself!
Don’t hesitate to enter; we owe it to the essential worker you elect to nominate as a way of giving back and expressing gratitude for their service. Submission requirements include how the nominee made a difference during the challenges of 2020 and why they deserve an amazing escape to Thailand. For example, you can nominate a local doctor who worked extra long hours to help their patients get healthy or a delivery person who helped keep a local restaurant open by making food deliveries.
The winners will be declared on December 18th on Matador Network’s social channels, including Facebook and Instagram.
Give Heroes A Memorable Vacation
There will be five winners, with each winner can bring one guest. Each person will get a premium economy seat (where available) valued at up to $3,000 per ticket, depending on the airline they pick. The winner will stay five nights at a boutique hotel accommodation with daily breakfast in a shared room in one of the selected locations:
- One winner will win a trip to Chiang Mai with hotel accommodations at Raya Heritage
- Two winners will win a trip to Bangkok with hotel accommodations at The Siam Hotel
- Two winners will win a trip to Phuket with hotel accommodations at Amatara Wellness Resort
Winners must make reservations by August 31st, 2021 and travel must be completed by September 30th, 2021
