In golfing history, Thailand is kind of the new kid in town, but don’t let that detour you from visiting one of their magnificent golf courses. Most courses were built to meet international standards, and were designed by some of the best golf course designers in the world.
In Nong Chok, a suburb of Bangkok, the President Country Club offers some of the most distinct and challenging holes, with each one being different from the last. The course was designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr., a master of creating classic golf courses. The course has also been host to various competitions and tournaments. In my opinion, these 27 holes would prove to be a challenge for any handicap. I know I had some difficulty, although I will say I had an invigorating game.
One of the oldest sports clubs in Thailand and Asia, is Chiang Mai Gymkhana Golf & Sports Club in Chiang Mai. At over 100 years old, this club is steeped with history; you can feel it when you travel around the course. Chiang Mai is also home to one of the newer courses in Thailand, the Chiang Mai Highlands Golf Resort & Spa. After only a few years in operation, the club earned much recognition for its course and resort. I was amazed at the mountain views from the course, simply astonishing!
Needless to say, Thailand has a plethora of golf courses to choose from that will match any skill or preference. Each course offers unique course design, and fantastic scenery. Every time I travel to Thailand, I always enjoy hitting the green in any golf resort.
