Valentine’s Day is upon us and we love this holiday in Thailand. We just don’t celebrate it for one day, but instead, we celebrate it during most of February. Since there are several activities in Thailand, we highlighted some of our favorites to showcase what lovers could do when in Thailand.
The 18th Anniversary of Trang Underwater Wedding Ceremony
The event was held from February 10-12, 2014 at Trang, Thailand; it is a gorgeous event held on one of the best known sand beaches. This project’s aim is to further promote the truly spectacular natural seaside and marine resources of the province with the warm atmosphere of love. The ceremony consists of Buddhism ritual and the traditional Thai wedding ceremony of pouring lustre water. The ceremony also includes the escort of the brides and grooms to their honeymoon suites by old happily-married couples in accordance with the long belief that they bring peace and long-lasting relationship as well as the eternity of love to the bridal couples.
Elephant Wedding Ceremony
Wedding Registration on elephants is held on Valentine’s Day at Elephant Study Center, Tah Toom District, Surin Province. We love riding elephants but seeing people register to get married brought tears to our eyes. It’s quite an amazing feat.
It is believed that the wedding registration on elephants will bring about good fortune and prosperity to the couples. Additionally, the couples will experience in many activities such as Bai Si Soo Kwan, a parade of a symbolic sum of money representing dowry, traditional drum performance and dancing. This wedding ceremony is very unique and will be the unforgettable memories of all couples.
We previously discussed the Amazing Romance in Amazing Thailand campaign a few weeks ago, but we wanted to include it in this post as well to highlight our affinity for it. Read more here.
